More About Mrs. Peacock

Who is Mrs. Peacock?

I am a mother of two teenage boys and two fuzzy rescue pups.  I am a wife of almost 25 years to my college best friend.  In regards to experience, I have worked with students for over 30 years.  Some of those experiences were in the classroom, but the last ten have been as a tutor of Math and Biology.  I completed my Masters in Biology from KSU in 2019 and also have an undergraduate degree in Biology from TNU in Nashville.  I began my teaching career at Osborne in October of 2018.  I decided to stay with my Osborne family because I love the students, administration, and staff.  I feel the administration and staff truly root for their students and love their students beyond the four walls of our beautiful new building.  My experience and education remind me of the importance of choice.   By focusing on my students strengths, they  can drive their own education.  They always have options to lead to the same goal of success. Learning can be navigated easier when we are able to present and research things we love and connect them to new ideas and concepts. I love learning from my students and their passions as much as teaching them new Biology concepts.

What is Mrs. Peacock’s Teaching Philosophy and Style?

My hope is to always arrange my classroom in a way that feels comfortable and engaging.  I want to get to know my students as much as possible.  I will design a learning environment around my students’ strengths while also trying to challenge them.  I want to teach content after my students have explored answers.  I will supply support resources and choices through research.  I want to be approachable,  where students are not afraid to ask questions or can message me when they struggle.  I want to give enough information so my students can connect what we are learning to world situations relevant to their culture and personalities.  It is important for me to create a learning environment where students feel safe to be themselves.  This is “their class.” I encourage them to own their education and seek answers. I want weekly opportunities, collaborations, and projects that reflect who my student’s are.  I want my students to be active participants in their education journey. I will incorporate  instructional videos to help support students as they absorb new concepts in Biology. I will also have tutoring sessions for anyone who needs me.

I feel honored to be a part of the Osborne family and genuinely love all of my students.  Twenty years from now my students may or may not remember Mitosis but my hope is that they remember there was a teacher who loved them unconditionally and was rooting for their success.
